multiple-myelomaMultiple myeloma, myeloma or Kahler's disease, is the prototype of malignant monoclonal gammopathy. The demonstrations are due, on one hand, plasma cell tumor proliferation (skeletal lesions, anemia, infiltration of various organs and tissues), the monoclonal protein production by myeloma cells (renal failure, susceptibility to infection, hyperviscosity syndrome), and cytokine production by plasma cells themselves or by stromal cells (bone lesions, hypercalcaemia) Multiple myeloma is plasma cell neoplasm frequent. Its incidence is four cases per 100,000 population per year. Represents 1% of all malignancies and 10% of hematological malignancies. The average age of presentation is between 60 and 65 years and there is a clear predominance about the gender. The clinical manifestations are variable, ranging from bone pain (more

common especially in the spine), anemia, weight loss, to splenomegaly, hepatomegaly and recurrent infections.
